June 2013
I am going to brunch tomorrow. Apparently the plan is to just die of alcohol poisoning before noon, because of things like:
Canadian Mojito: Muddled orange, lemon & grapefruit with maple syrup, Canadian whisky & soda
And:
Red Sangria: Red wine, Framboise, Triple Sec, cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, lime & gingerale
And pomegranate mimosas.
I… do not know what has happened to my I-drink-beer-and-whisky Halifax self, but apparently it’s still on the east coast.
this past weekend, my Current Favourite Diner added a brunch drink that is gin, cassis, and grapefruit juice
all I want is more
we all have that one friend who is probably secretly a magical girl.
was it really necessary for me to be born
Possibly not, however Double Chocolate Chip Cookies aren’t really necessary either but I wouldn’t want to live in a world without them!
that is the most uplifting thing i’ve read all day

I’m digging it. Would be nice if skin color were an option in a city of anthropomorphic animals.
Oh, totally agreed. A part of me wonders if this reflects the game’s Japanese origin, but even if that’s the case, NoA localized the hell out of this game (in mostly amazing ways).
Especially given how good this game has been on things like gender identity and such, the blinders on race really bum me out.

50% of my brain: “Write alllll the papers on this!” And the other half is still stuck on, “Shake allll the damn trees.”
yessssss to both of these. I feel like this reply has captured the spirit of Animal Crossing! “I need to do ALL THESE IMPORTANT THINGS…just as soon as I finish gathering seashells on the beach. and talking to all my friends. and I mustn’t run or I’ll hurt the grass.” <3
(I would enjoy having nerdy discussions about these paper ideas over beers next week. As I always do.)
we start playing this cutesy, cartoony game, and now we’re having conversations about gender, race, and the pace and quality of life
well played, nintendo
well, except on the race part.
I’m sitting on my bed for the third day in a row.
I’m waiting for 5PM to hit so that I can finally close my 3DS. I’ve been ‘tanning’ my avatar in the latest entry of Nintendo’s long running Animal Crossing series, New Leaf. I put ‘tanning’ in scare quotes because the method doesn’t match my intention. Yes, I’m doing the the thing the game calls tanning, but my objective isn’t just darkening my avatar’s skin tone, it’s being able to see in the screen what I see in the mirror
