Playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
And it’s a lot of fun, and a lot of shiny, but I’m left feeling like having a character who can deal fire, ice, poison, bleeding, and shock damage all at once is cheating, somehow. Somewhere.
Fuck yes for sneakmages though.
It’s a big part of what I love about it, and .. in an odd way, also part of why I’m glad there won’t be a sequel, and a 3 and a 4 and spinoffs and whatever else.
It almost feels like a reward. It’s as if the creators said, “You’ve played through years of hard, million-hour RPGs where you’re level 60 but still might lose a dice roll against a raccoon. And now, for one game only, everything is bright and colourful, the world is full of wonder, and you get to be the badassiest badass that ever was, and we will make sure you always look awesome as you do whatever it is you do.”
